EMBA Module 1 - Postgraduate Certificate: Leading Business Development (LBD)
Module Structure
The postgraduate Certificate module consists of an opening four-day session and seven course sessions each of three days. Course sessions are held every second week, usually from Fridays 08:30 am to Sundays 4:00 pm and consist of lectures, individual preparation of assignments in the participant’s supporting/sponsoring company, case discussions, and group work. The course sessions are supplemented by (mandatory) tutoring or facilitation sessions on Friday evenings in weeks with no courses. The tutoring sessions typically run from 5:30 to 8:00 pm. The postgraduate Certificate involves a total of 270 contact hours.
The Business Learning Part
The postgraduate Certificate introduces a comprehensive, systematic method for business definition and competitive positioning that will serve as an analytical framework for the entire EMBA program.
The module also deals with major functional business decisions and business environment analyses, based on an integrated, cross-functional approach.
The participant will prepare five minor assignments and one concluding exam project each dealing with an issue identified in the participant’s supporting company. The supporting company is expected to make information available and assist the participants, who analyze issues within selected functional areas and present their conclusions and recommendations both to the faculty and to the management of the company.
The Leadership Learning Part
Participants work in heterogeneous groups, which bring together experts from different fields. Within this context, individual leadership styles and behavior are observed and reflected upon, teambuilding processes are introduced, and plans for personal leadership development are defined and initiated.
The quality of the the personal development plans will be evaluated, and knowledge about leadership and group work will be assessed in a group assignment.
